Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) were introduced to New Zealand for sport in the 19th century. Nikki’s drawing explores the call of a stag and an interaction with a hunter. This pen, ink & acrylic portrait was inspired by a song called “Last Broadcast” by The Doves.
